U.S. Open picks sleepers for daily fantasy golf co

The long grind of the PGA season between The Masters and the U.S. Open is finally over. Historic Shinnecock Hills plays host to the 118th United States Open, Brendan McKay Jersey and in my opinion there isnt a better course in the world to host a major championship event. Shinnecock is a cla sic American links course that looks like it would fit right in Northern England or Scotland and is a much different test than players typically face on a week to week basis on the PGA Tour -- and a much different test for those in daily fantasy golf contests.Shinnecock is a Par-70 layout that checks in at 7,445 yards. The overall difficulty of the course will rely heavily on the wind conditions, as there isnt a single tree on the property, leaving the course completely exposed to the elements. Players should expect firm and fast conditions, as is the case with almost all U.S.Opens. Shinnecock has played host to fourprevious U.S.Opens, with the last being in 2004 where Retief Goosen held off Phil Mickelson to take home the title. The 2004 edition became notorious for how the USGA completely lost the seventh green and was forced to water the putting surface between groups during the final round on Sunday. Since then, the course has been significantly lengthened by almost 500 yards, and many of the landing zones around the fairway have been redone, being both widened and narrowed in various places.Off the tee, players will face brutally firm fairways with devastatingly thick fescue rough lingering just off the short stuff. A ball in the fescue will virtually force anyone who is wayward off the tee into a chip out and make par a tough, if not impo sible, task. While distance will certainly be an advantage given the length of the course, accuracy off the tee will be paramount. The firmne s of the fairway should provide ample amounts of runout on tee shots, so even short knockers have a chance at approaching the C. J. Cron Jersey green from a reasonable distance.MOREDFS:Lineup Builder|Approach is where this tournament will be won and lost this week. The green complexes at Shinnecock are legendary, with nearly every approach coming into a raised green with shaved areas off the putting surfaces, a la Pinehurst No. 2. Getting up and down from off the green will be a tough task this week; however, players who put the ball on the proper areas of the putting surfaces will be rewarded with birdie opportunities. We may see players who struggle with chipping opt to putt from off the green, but the slopes at Shinnecock are much more severe than at a course like Pinehurs,t so there is much more difficulty and risk with implementing that strategy. Shinnecock is also unique in that it features poa greens, something that we rarely see outside of courses on the West Coast.Being a Par-70 layout with two difficult Par 5s, Ill be looking at Par-4 and Par-3 scoring. All four of the Par 3s are incredibly difficult and will likely all play well over par. Players who are able to grind pars on the Par 3s and then take advantage of the scoring opportunities on the few short Par 4s will have a huge advantage over the rest of the field. As with any U.S.Open, besides last year at Erin Hills, we should expect to see a complete grind. Scoring will be at a premium, and it wouldnt be surprising to see very few, if any, players under par this week if the wind gets blowing. In DFS we typically want to target birdie makers, but at an event like this where finishing position will be crucial to overall scoring, finding guys who can grind out pars and not implode with big numbers takes on an added importance. With there being no relevant course history to speak of this week, here are a few courses that Im looking at as corollary courses to Shinnecock Hills:Oakmont CC -Long Par-70 layoutwith firm and fast conditions.Royal Birkdale -Links-style course Trevor Richards Jersey that requires players to fly the ball into the green rather than play bump and runs like other links-style layouts.Erin Hills -American links-style course with wide landing zone where length will help but accuracy off the tee was most important. There's plenty of strategy that goes into putting together a winning DFS lineup, and the best place to start is. Well, DJ being DJ, he had to go out and lap the field and regain his No. 1 spot in the World Golf Rankings, virtually a suring that hell be one of, if not the, most popular play in the field this week at Shinnecock. Johnson is built for the U.S. Open with his length off the tee and excellent approach game. The firm and fast conditions will suit his game well, and he will be left with just a wedge or short iron in his hands on many holes, as long as he can keep it in the fairway, something he couldnt do last year at Erin Hills. In my opinion, Shinnecock most closely resembles Oakmont CC, which is also the site of DJs major championship breakthrough in 2016. Pricing is soft enough this week to roster DJ and still build a lineup that you feel very confident in, which makes him the obvious play for cash games. It will be a bold stand to fade him in tournaments.Justin RoseFormer U.S. Open champion Rose is in some of the best form of his entire career and is one of the top overall plays this week at Shinnecock. Roses ball striking has been on another Corey Dickerson Jersey level this season and he excels on courses where conditions are difficult. Rose is a perfect 15-for-15 in cuts made this season and he has racked up an incredible 10 top-10 finishe s to boot. While I absolutely love Johnson this week or even pivoting to the lower owned Justin Thomas, I also feel perfectly comfortable building a few balanced rosters with Rose as the high-priced anchor. This approach allows you to not have to stoop down into the low-$7,000 range, which is always a good strategy at a U.S. Open where only the top 60 and ties will play the weekend. Roses best a set has been his iron play, which is by far the top statistic you should be looking for this week. Brooks KoepkaI really struggled over who to put for the final top-tier pick between Koepka and Tiger Woods. While I will certainly have shares of both, if I had to pick just one, it would be defending U.S. Open champion Koepka. Similar to Dustin Johnson, Koepka is absolutely bui
